Rapunzel Hostel is centrally located in the hip and happening area of Istanbul, “Galata” (in Beyoglu district) offering a budget hostel next to the famous Galata Tower. Istiklal Street, with its nightlife, shopping and famous cosmopolitan atmosphere is only 5 min away; as is Tünel Square, which is officially the trendiest place in Istanbul right now, with a mixture of cool cafés and bars. The old city “Sultanahmet”, which holds all the principal monuments of Istanbul, is also 5 min away by tram. The nearest metro station is 2 min, tram and bus stops are 3 min walking distance away from our beloved hostel. It is a place at the heart of the city, offering you a cosy and comfortable base from which to explore the beauty of Istanbul.
Our building was designed at 1872 by the architect Salvatore Flori, as a family building that had been lived in Galata area for over five decades. Before Rapunzel, the first floor of the building was used as a tea house. The building is recently refurbished by being faithful to its authenticity.

“Excellent hostel in Istanbul”
Love this hostel. It's small but very cozy. The breakfast is simply the best, better than my breakfast at home =) The building is lovely with beautiful bricks. The room is nice ensuite with spotless bathroom. I enjoyed my stay here so much. The staff is so so so helpful and friendly. The Italian receptionist just knows EVERYTHING in Istanbul. Highly recommended!
“Will come back”
Stayed here over the weekend. A proper hostel feel. Lovely old building and well located.
Beds were comfy and breakfast looked good. Staff were helpful.
My only gripe was the lack of an iron which almost all hostels/hotels have. For those of you who saw my crinkled shirt on Saturday can blame the hostel!
Besides that I will be back and plan on staying there again.
“just a nice place”
it's a very nice hostel on a great location, just around the corner of the galata tower. i really liked the wooden furniture & the brick walls! And of course the good music taste of the staff:-) they are very friendly & have some good advices, also insider's tips about special cultural events. the breakfast is ok & the rooms are clean. and the best is: the hostel also has a roof top terrace with a nice view where i spent some romantic hours:-)
